Don’t judge a book by its working title

Some of the best books of all time had truly awful working titles, Johann Thorsson writes, noting that F. Scott Fitzgerald‘s “The Great Gatsby” was originally known as “Trimalchio in West Egg”; Ernest Hemingway’sA Farewell to Arms” was almost known as “The Sentimental Education of Frederick Henry”; and William Faulkner‘s “The Sound and the Fury” was to be called “Twilight.”
